The specter of two former NBA stars announcing their entrance in the 2027 WNBA draft is, at first blush, exhilarating.1 Just imagine the numbers Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White would put up for Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve as she straddles the bench in her Trans Kids Belong t-shirt.2
Absolutely trailblazing for the gender-fluidity movement. Really…smacks of Selma, doesn’t it? I mean, what’s not to like? As Enes so bravely declared:
After careful consideration and reviewing the current eligibility guidelines, I’m officially declaring myself a @WNBA prospect. If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required, then I meet every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA.
My team and I have carefully examined the WNBA’s eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion. Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027.
I know my presence on the court will stir up strong opinions.
I am definitely not here to mock, make fun of, or disrespect any community or personal choices.
I’m simply asking that the current rules be applied equally to everyone — the rules that represent the very values many WNBA players and coaches have publicly advocated for.
My team and I are prepared to ensure these guidelines are applied equally, consistently, and without exception, and I look forward to the #WNBA honoring its stated principles.3
Ok, ok…maybe not quite so ‘exhilarating.’ But it is hilarious.
The WNBA has had it both ways (pardon the pun) ever since Caitlin Clark was dropping 3-pointers for Iowa. Now all of its activist-players on the court will be forced to defend their assault on biological reality instead of merely assaulting Ms. Clark.
Naturally, the players’ association has already said the issue is “nuanced” and the organization won’t be used as “political pawns.”4 All a precursor for using the league’s stated policy of ‘inclusion’ to exclude the two former NBA stars.
But that flies in the face of a policy that deliberately doesn’t define ‘women,’ and thus who is actually allowed to play in the league based on genetic sex.5 Transgender advocacy is the reason and let’s be clear—it’s being done on behalf of players who are part and parcel of the identity politics movement.
The inmates are running the asylum.
And you’d better not cross ‘em in the prison yard. Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is now being openly targeted by her ‘colleagues’ for her “white privilege,” not to mention defending Clark.6 Her audacity in wanting to “protect young girls in the locker room,” as well as from going up “against biological men,” is simply untenable.7
Allow this and what’s next? Straight white women? Telling ‘furries’ they’re not really animals?
