If Republicans retake Congress, especially both Houses, it is imperative they get something done. Failure to act is fatal for a new majority and the failure of a Republican Senate to act on health care reform in the 115th Congress was the death knell for GOP candidates in the 2018 midterms.
Power is fleeting in such a polarized environment, and letting the perfect become the enemy of the good can be at the country’s peril. It’s a judgement call. But as we are finding out, paralyzing self-government in the Trump era comes with an awfully big price tab in the Biden one
