Birthright What?
Of course the framers didn’t intend to make America a magnet for ‘anchor babies.’
We’ve written before in Jason’s Newsletter about the dire costs of open borders, here and here. And given the extent of the crisis, I don’t think it’s possible to overstate the total abdication of national sovereignty on the part of those supposedly sworn to protect it.
It is a fundamental betrayal on an epic scale.
A statesmen’s first responsibility is to protect those he serves. For federal officials, this duty to country is sacrosanct. America, unlike other nations, doesn’t have the inherent glue that bonds its citizens by bloodline. What holds our country together (or used to) is a fidelity toward a set of ideals, such as private property, free speech, and the rule of law.
The refusal on the part of the Democrat-left to secure our border and allow an invasion by those who do not share in those principles is more than just treacherous, it’s criminal. Especially so when you consider they did so for the rankest of reasons.
Indeed, the drive for open borders is about one thing. The same thing, incidentally, that drives the federal ‘money-laundering’ scandal the DOGE investigation is uncovering—raw power.1
It doesn’t matter to those who lust for it whether their sinecure is acquired by funneling billions of federal dollars through corrupt non-profits or granting illegal immigrants the vote. New York (among other blue jurisdictions) is attempting the latter for 800,000 noncitizens who, by definition, have not sworn allegiance to the U.S.2
Both are just vehicles for the swamp’s ruling class. An ethically-bankrupt Democrat-media complex that cynically exploited COVID lockdowns, George Floyd riots, false Russian collusion, politicized FEMA—all for electoral gain.
Can there really be any doubt it would do the same over borders? Of course not and everyone knows it.
The goal, in America as well as Europe, is ‘replacement theory’ writ large—flooding a country with third-worldism as Western populations continue to dwindle.3 The byproduct is the displacement of legal and cultural norms with a new radical statism whose adherents, from George Soros to Chuck Schumer, gain more power.
This is why the Biden administration deliberately shirked its constitutional duty by letting tens of millions, including ‘gotaways,’ invade the country.4 It is also why Democrats have erected a magnet for illegals, including everything from free education to medical care.5
But the motherlode is and always has been ‘anchor babies.’ In fact, open border advocates are downright apoplectic over the Trump administration’s decree ending the ‘birth tourism’ legal fantasy.6 So they and their media mouthpieces keep repeating that ‘birthright citizenship’ for the children of illegal aliens is a ‘constitutional right,’ which it is demonstrably not—as I explain below.
