Can Minnesota Be Saved?
The inmates are running the asylum and the state is on life-support.
If you ever wondered whether the people running Blue-state America are crazy, this year’s legislative session in Minnesota should remove all doubt. Still reeling from unprecedented rioting and dystopian lockdowns that killed seniors and traumatized kids, Democrats in control of state government in St. Paul have been unrelenting in their zeal to keep the chaos going.
Led by the most woke administration in the country under Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, radical lawmakers have dashed any hope of restoring the quality of life that Minnesotans enjoyed when moderate Democrat Wendell Anderson graced the cover of Time magazine and the crime rate was the third lowest in the nation.1 No more.
A post-George Floyd crime wave continues unabated as the Capitol city set another record for homicides in 2022, surpassing the one it set the year before.2 The carnage has spread far and wide with an epidemic of carjackings and shootings at malls and movie theaters. Even state prisons (where employees are no longer allowed to call prisoners inmates, but rather “incarcerated persons”) are suffering under a rash of assaults on corrections officers.3
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’ Minnesota Freedom Fund has bailed out so many would-be inmates charged with violent crimes, including murder, that even CNN was forced to notice.4
Last year, the DFL (Democrat-Farm-Labor) swept every statewide office and took control of both legislative chambers. The greatest collection of societal misfits since the Star Wars bar scene immediately called for early prison release and less probation, restored felon-voting rights, granted driver’s licenses to illegal aliens (the vote is next), went carbon-free, banned discrimination based on hairstyle, made Juneteenth a state holiday, expanded abortion access into the third trimester and made Minnesota a ‘refugee’ state for child gender-transitioning.5
Even as neighboring states banned the grisly experimentation on minors, a lunatic Lt. Gov. Flanagan celebrated the state as a sanctuary for puberty blockers and gender surgeries by lecturing Minnesotans on “what it means to be a good parent.”6 When her bizarre comments drew nationwide criticism, she doubled-down with a shout out to state Rep. Leigh Finke—who happens to be a biological male—for being USA Today’s Woman of the Year.7
