Beyond bolstering a Trump second term, a potential faux indictment of the former President by his political adversaries is almost comical in its bravado. Recall, the charges to be brought (as of this writing) by a partisan district attorney’s office in crime-ridden Manhattan revolve around the same ones trumpeted by the disgraced Michael Avenatti when he was serving as in-house legal counsel for every corrupt media outlet in the country.
Not only did the crooked lawyer hailed as an anti-Trump hero appear on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC 150 times in the span of just a few months in 2018, but the activists posing as journalists shamelessly acted as Avenatti’s publicist.
The discredited Los Angeles Times wrote, “Trump meets his match: Stormy Daniels’ combative lawyer Michael Avenatti.”1 What used to be NBC News proclaimed, “Stormy Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti is ready for his star turn,” and MSNBC’s Bush-buffoon, Nicole Wallace, observed that the media darling “hit a lot of the right notes” during a visit to Iowa...”2
As usual, however, CNN distinguished itself. As I note in Party Animal, The Truth About President Trump, Power Politics & the Partisan Press :
Michael Avenatti (sentenced for ripping off Nike and his porn star client) appeared on the network 74 times in a little over two months, and was touted as presidential timber by Brian Stelter. CNN ‘political analyst’ Ana Navarro called the convict the ‘Holy Spirit,’ when she wasn’t on ‘The View.’
