The Real War Trump Started
A scathing Durham Report is merely the latest battle in the only conflict the ‘swamp’ desperately wants to avoid.
Picking a fight with those who buy ink by the barrel isn’t for the faint of heart. So much so that both political parties (wink and a nod) have had a pretend battle with the media for years.
Democrats, of course, like the partisan press just the way it is because they get free opposition research without having to report it for what it is—an in-kind campaign contribution.1
Yet many in the Republican establishment don’t mind either. They can raise a lot of money complaining while not actually doing much about the media’s ‘election interference’ as long as their own political sinecures aren’t threatened.
Then along came Donald Trump.
And judging by Anderson Cooper’s absolutely bizarre reaction to the former President’s Townhall on CNN, the likelihood of a ceasefire between left-wing journalists and the only politician willing to take them on seems remote.
Cooper is supposed to be a newsman, but he’s more of a fashion journalist whose job it is to cover politicians every now and then. So why was he apologizing to his shrinking audience for, well, covering a politician?
Ok, ok…he doesn’t cover Joe Biden’s scandals either.
Seriously, imagine any real reporter saying it is our job NOT to let you hear, see or read what a candidate has to say. And no, it matters not one little bit if they think the politician is wrong, bad or lying.
Like that’s never happened before.
